• Students who major in Civics Honors ask the big questions : What does it mean and what does it take to be free? How can a rising generation sustain life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in America? 

    Students will explore these questions and more as they study Western Civilization, American constitutionalism, and the foundations of free economies. Train to think, speak, read, and write well as you prepare for a variety of meaningful professions.  This new major launches in fall 2025. 

  • Prospective students who have graduated from high school and are applying for their first year at any college/university are eligible to apply for admission to UT Austin and the School of Civic Leadership’s BA with a major in Civics Honors. The Civics Honors major is open to internal and external transfer students.

    • Incoming freshmen students apply to the University of Texas Austin through UT Austin Admissions via Common App or Apply Texas. 

    • Satisfy all requirement listed on the UT Austin Application Checklist 

    Students applying to the School of Civic Leadership’s BA with a major in Civics Honors must answer two short essay questions (200 words each).
